Four J300 cranes from Jaso Tower Cranes have been integral to the high-speed rail project connecting Vitoria, Bilbao, and San Sebastián, a major infrastructure development in the Basque Country.
The Elorrio-Elorrio section of the rail line, awarded by ADIF to Sacyr Ingeniería e Infraestructuras and Cavosa, in partnership with Mariezcurrena, presented a range of challenges due to the complex infrastructure, including viaducts and tunnels, in a technically demanding environment. A particular challenge was the construction of the 481-meter-long Zumelegui Viaduct, which required cranes capable of working at great heights with precision.
To meet these requirements, four J300 cranes from the High Top range were chosen for the project. Initially installed at a height of 50 meters using TRD36 mast sections (3.6m x 3.6m), the cranes were later raised to a final height of 93.4 meters, transitioning to TR20 and TN20 sections (2.0m x 2.0m) using a climbing cage. This flexible climbing capability enabled continuous operation throughout the construction of the Zumelegui Viaduct, ensuring both efficiency and safety.
Sacyr selected Jaso Tower Cranes for their balance of high quality and competitive pricing, along with Jaso’s specialized after-sales support. This collaboration helped ensure the cranes operated at peak efficiency, contributing to the project’s timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
With the Zumelegui Viaduct now nearing completion, Jaso Tower Cranes celebrates its contribution to advancing transportation infrastructure in the Basque Country.
