VINCI Construction, through its Canadian subsidiaries BA Blacktop and Carmacks, will join a consortium to upgrade and widen a 4.5 km stretch of Highway 1 in British Columbia. The €62 million (CAD 94 million) project is part of the broader Fraser Valley Highway 1 Corridor Improvement Program, located 70 km east of Vancouver. It aims to accommodate the region’s growing population and improve traffic flow and safety for the 80,000 motorists who use the corridor daily.

The project will include widening Highway 1 to introduce carpool and bus lanes, building two new bridges, and rehabilitating an existing rest area. In addition to infrastructure improvements, the project will implement environmental measures to restore ecosystems for aquatic wildlife and promote biodiversity.

Scheduled for substantial completion by summer 2027, the project has a strong community focus, with 15% of the workforce set to be sourced from local First Nation communities, primarily Kwantlen and Matsqui.
