Hiab, a part of Cargotec, has launched the HIAB iQ.708 HIPRO, a next-generation heavy loader crane that balances weight, lifting capacity, and dimensions for improved safety and operational flexibility. This new model offers increased lifting power compared to its predecessors, providing an optimized frame that enhances both performance and payload capacity.

Equipped with the SPACEevo control system, the HIAB iQ.708 HIPRO improves productivity and ensures safer operations for both experienced and novice operators. The crane’s modular design, incorporating the V12-Power boom profile, places it in the 60-70 tonne meter range, making it a versatile unit suitable for various truck installations. With a maximum vertical reach of 40 meters and a JIB capable of delivering materials “up and over” at 26 meters, the iQ.708 HIPRO is engineered to tackle complex tasks with precision.

Stefano Brusa, Director of Global Product Management for Heavy and Superheavy Loader Cranes at Hiab, explained that the crane’s design focuses on optimizing installation flexibility and payload. “Customers benefit from more payload across a wide range of truck installations—key elements for users in this segment,” said Brusa.

One of the standout features of the new crane is the Syncronised Distance Control (SDC) function, which simplifies load handling by maintaining a set distance between the load and the crane tip, reducing the need for complex lever operations. This feature is particularly useful when managing loads at extended distances or heights, where visibility is limited.

Additional safety innovations include the Load Stability System for vertical movements (LSS-V), which compensates for excessive lever movements, and the Variable Stability Logic PLUS (VSL+), which monitors stabilizer leg positions and pressure to maximize lifting capacity. The crane also comes with the advanced CD4 remote control, featuring three large, light-condition-friendly displays, haptic feedback, and personalized operator settings. Hiab will begin taking orders for the HIAB iQ.708 HIPRO in Q4 2024.

To further enhance the lifespan of its cranes, Hiab offers HiPerform smart solutions, including proactive maintenance, telematics, and operator training options. The HiConnect™ telematics system provides real-time data on equipment condition, enabling better decision-making, reducing downtime, and improving overall productivity. Additionally, the ProCare™ service contract offers preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure cranes continue to perform at their best.
