Rope and Sling Specialists Ltd. (RSS) and Sheffield Forgemasters will bring together lifting industry professionals on 8 July for a special event focused on compliance, asset management and the growing role of digitalisation in lifting operations.

The event, which will take place at RSS’s Rotherham depot and include a site visit to Sheffield Forgemasters, has been scheduled shortly after Global Lifting Awareness Day (GLAD) 2026. This year’s GLAD campaign, led by the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association (LEEA), carries the theme “Not all lifting equipment is created equal.”

RSS, a leading supplier of lifting and rigging equipment and services, already works closely with Sheffield Forgemasters, one of the UK’s foremost steel forging and engineering companies. Professional Lifting Services Ltd. (PLS), which carries out periodic inspections of lifting equipment at Sheffield Forgemasters, will also be involved.

A key focus of the event will be RSS’s live365 digital compliance platform, which combines inspection services with data analysis tools to improve traceability, compliance and asset management.

“Our event with Sheffield Forgemasters will build on the momentum created by GLAD by gathering customers and industry stakeholders to explore how digitalisation is helping improve compliance, traceability and the safe management of lifting equipment across the industry,” said Leanne Whitehurst-Maiden, National Digitalisation Manager at RSS.

Sheffield Forgemasters has been an early adopter of digitalised lifting equipment management and RFID embedded assets throughout its operations.

“Digitalisation is transforming the way lifting equipment is managed,” said Daniel Jennett, Health, Safety and Environmental Manager at Sheffield Forgemasters. “We continue to integrate live365 across our supply chain to create end to end traceability, giving users greater confidence in the status, inspection history and compliance of their assets.”

The event coincides with two major milestones: Sheffield Forgemasters’ 250th anniversary and RSS’s 20th year in business. Presentations will be delivered by industry leaders including Ross Moloney, CEO of LEEA, alongside representatives from RSS and Sheffield Forgemasters.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour Sheffield Forgemasters’ new machine shop currently under construction.
