Arbeitsbühnen Gagarin GmbH has expanded its crane fleet with the purchase of its first Liebherr mobile crane, investing in an LTM 1090-4.2 to meet growing demand for compact yet powerful lifting solutions.

The Lower Franconia-based company selected the 90-tonne crane to fill the gap between its existing 60-tonne and 100-tonne crane classes, providing greater flexibility for a wide range of lifting applications. The investment forms part of a broader fleet expansion strategy driven by a strong order book and increasing customer requirements for lifting height and operational versatility.

According to Florian Schebler, authorised signatory and commercial director of Arbeitsbühnen Gagarin GmbH, the company has seen rising demand for cranes capable of handling challenging lifts without the need for complex heavy-haul transport permits. He noted that the 90-tonne class offers an ideal balance between lifting performance and mobility, enabling the company to undertake projects that would exceed the capabilities of smaller cranes while avoiding the operational limitations of larger models.

The Liebherr LTM 1090-4.2 features a 60-metre telescopic boom and combines high lifting capacity with the compact dimensions of a four-axle carrier. The crane is equipped with several advanced technologies, including VarioBallast®, which allows rapid adjustment of the ballast radius in confined working environments, and VarioBase®, which enables variable outrigger positioning to enhance safety and lifting performance. Liebherr’s ECOdrive and ECOmode systems also help reduce fuel consumption and noise emissions.

The crane will be deployed across a variety of applications, including steel and hall construction, prefabricated house installation, industrial maintenance projects and tower crane assembly.

With the addition of the LTM 1090-4.2, Arbeitsbühnen Gagarin’s fleet now comprises four mobile cranes and one truck-mounted loader crane. The company cited Liebherr’s technological leadership, strong service support and reliable spare parts availability as key factors behind its decision to choose the manufacturer.

Founded as a nationwide rental specialist for aerial work platforms, industrial trucks and mobile cranes, Arbeitsbühnen Gagarin GmbH employs 36 people and operates throughout Germany through its membership in the AVS System Lift AG network.
