Rheinmetall and Dutch trailer manufacturer Nooteboom Trailers B.V. have signed a cooperation agreement to develop and distribute military Heavy Equipment Trailer solutions. The partnership focuses on the joint development, industrialisation and marketing of heavy transport systems designed for military use.
The cooperation responds to growing demand in Europe for off road heavy transport capabilities as armed forces expand fleets of heavy wheeled and tracked vehicles. Major NATO procurement programmes for battle tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and self propelled howitzers are also driving the need for advanced military logistics solutions. Through this collaboration both companies aim to strengthen their position in the military mobility sector while supporting a more resilient European defence industry.
Nooteboom Trailers brings decades of experience in the design, production and maintenance of special trailers for payloads of up to 200 tonnes. The company is widely recognised among logistics specialists and transport operators for its expertise in heavy and special transport solutions.
Rheinmetall contributes its extensive experience in military vehicle manufacturing together with large scale industrial capabilities and international market access as part of a global defence technology group.
The joint solution will combine Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles’ highly mobile tractor units with a compatible trailer system, enabling Rheinmetall to offer a fully integrated Heavy Equipment Transport system. The platform is designed to transport heavy tracked and wheeled vehicles including armoured engineer vehicles and recovery equipment.
Production of the military HET trailers is expected to take place in Romania as part of the industrial cooperation.
