Kalmar has announced a major agreement with Medcenter Container Terminal (MCT) to supply 20 hybrid straddle carriers, further strengthening their long-standing partnership. The order, recorded in Kalmar’s Q4 2024 intake, is set for delivery by Q1 2026.
MCT, owned and operated by Terminal Investment Limited (TIL), is situated in the southern Italian port of Gioia Tauro and handles approximately 4 million TEUs annually. Kalmar has been a trusted partner of MCT since 1995, delivering over 200 straddle carriers to the terminal over the years.
Antonio Testi, CEO of MCT, emphasized the importance of the new machines: “Kalmar straddle carriers have been the backbone of our operations for many years, so continuing our successful partnership was an easy decision. Adding more hybrid machines to our fleet will significantly reduce local emissions, fuel costs, and noise levels while enhancing operator comfort.”
Marco Tosi, Country Director of Kalmar Italy, expressed his satisfaction with the continued collaboration: “We have been working with MCT since the terminal’s inception and have built a strong partnership over the years. We are delighted they have chosen our proven, eco-efficient hybrid straddle carrier technology to expand their fleet.”
