The Flemish Roads and Traffic Agency (AWV) has advanced infrastructure development in Antwerp by installing a new bridge over the E-313 highway, enhancing traffic flow between Antwerp and Liège. A key feature of the new bridge in Ranst is an ecoduct, designed to allow wildlife to safely cross the highway, promoting both ecological and transportation efficiency.

Sarens, a global leader in heavy lifting and engineered transport, played a pivotal role in the project, lifting and installing 24 concrete beams, each weighing 41 tons, over two days. Sarens was selected for its expertise in managing complex engineering projects, ensuring the new structure’s safety and durability with a higher clearance from the ground.

The project faced logistical challenges, including securing special permits for transporting cranes and equipment on the highway, but Sarens’ meticulous planning ensured smooth execution. The use of advanced equipment, such as the LTM 1450-8.1 mobile telescopic crane, allowed for precise and efficient assembly.

Sarens’ extensive experience in major infrastructure projects, including bridge renovations and installations across Europe, made it the ideal partner for this crucial upgrade. The new bridge will significantly improve traffic conditions and contribute to the region’s ecological and infrastructure development.
