Volvo Trucks has announced a breakthrough in long-distance electric transport with the launch of its new heavy-duty electric truck, capable of driving up to 600 km on a single charge. The new Volvo FH Electric, set to be released in the second half of 2025, will enable zero-emission transport over long distances, making it a viable option for transport companies operating interregional and long-haul routes.
Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, hailed the new electric flagship as a crucial step toward reducing CO2 emissions, particularly for companies with high-mileage trucks. The increased range is made possible by Volvo’s new e-axle technology, which allows for more battery capacity and an improved powertrain efficiency.
Volvo has been one of the leaders in electric trucking, delivering over 3,800 electric trucks in 46 countries. The company aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040 through a combination of battery-electric, fuel cell electric, and renewable fuel-powered combustion engines.
