2024 signifies five decades since Bengt-Olof Hammar introduced the pioneering Hammar Sideloader, establishing Hammar in Sweden. Throughout the years, the company has evolved into a global leader in the industry while staying true to its Swedish origins. As part of its anniversary celebration, Hammar unveils two new models: the Hammar 550, the world’s first Sideloader with a 50-tonne Safe Working Load, and the flagship model Hammar 500.

Founded in 1974, Hammar Maskin AB constructed its first Hammarlift in the same year, affectionately dubbed “The Shark” due to its registration number, HAJ 789. This iconic unit, still operational after 50 years, remains a testament to Hammar’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Over the years, Hammar has maintained a steadfast focus on Sideloaders, capturing an estimated 65-70% share of the global market and expanding its presence across 122 countries.

With continuous innovation, Hammar has reduced the tare weight of its Sideloaders while increasing the Safe Working Load, culminating in the forthcoming Hammar 550 model boasting a groundbreaking 50-tonne capacity. This advancement, tailored initially for large cable drum handling, promises broader applications and expands the Sideloader market.

Another notable innovation is the Hammar 500, featuring a 6-meter crane reach and enhanced stability through support legs. This flagship model offers versatility and increased handling capacity, with the ability to stack two containers two rows deep.

Looking ahead, Hammar anticipates sustained growth driven by increasing container usage and the demand for efficient logistics solutions. The company remains committed to service, innovation, quality, and sustainability as it embarks on its next chapter.

The 50th-anniversary celebrations will unfold throughout 2024, with further announcements anticipated.
