Thermo King has recently announced a strategic collaboration with BPW Group and idem telematics, focusing on advancing data sharing and integration within the electrified transportation sector. This partnership underscores Thermo King’s dedication to providing customers with comprehensive insights and fully integrated visibility into their refrigeration systems within their preferred platforms.
The collaboration introduces a unique value proposition, combining Thermo King’s expertise with the specialized knowledge of BPW Group and idem telematics. This alliance aims to offer a holistic view of refrigerated trailer operations, empowering customers with enhanced data insights from their tractors and trailers.
Thermo King’s TracKing e-Vision solution plays a pivotal role in this collaboration by delivering insights into the performance of the AxlePower system, seamlessly integrated with Thermo King cooling units. The solution also provides valuable data on Trailer Electronic Braking System (EBS) and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
Customers utilizing idem telematics’ cargofleet 3 platform will now have direct access to real-time data from Thermo King refrigeration units and AxlePower smart energy generating systems. The AxlePower system, a key component of this collaboration, combines BPW’s ePower axle with Thermo King trailer refrigeration units (TRU) and power management technology. It efficiently converts energy recovered during braking and downhill driving to power the cooling unit, contributing to energy efficiency and sustainability in transportation.
Isil Dedeoglu, Vice President for Services and Aftermarket at Thermo King Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), expressed the significance of this collaboration within the digital space, emphasizing Thermo King’s commitment to operating within a collaborative ecosystem. The goal is to ensure that customers have the necessary tools to optimize their operations seamlessly, utilizing their preferred integrated platforms, complementing Thermo King’s TracKing™ system.
Jens Zeller, Managing Director of idem telematics GmbH, highlighted the strength of their open-system, cloud-based telematics portal, cargofleet 3, as the industry standard for transport telematics. With over 120,000 units in the market, cargofleet 3 enables easy integration and consolidation of data from various sources. Zeller expressed delight in working with Thermo King to provide seamless access to Thermo King TRU data via cargofleet 3. This collaboration aims to offer new opportunities for transparent and user-friendly transport management, particularly benefiting hauliers aiming to digitize their entire cold chain. Overall, this partnership marks a significant stride in Thermo King’s digital journey and commitment to customer-centric solutions in the evolving landscape of electrified transportation.
