Hiab, a division of Cargotec, has unveiled two new environmentally conscious Multilift hooklifts – the heavy-duty Multilift Ultima 28Z and Multilift Ultima ZERO. Crafted from low-emission recycled steel, these hooklifts offer customers the ability to cut carbon emissions in their operations.

The Multilift Ultima 28Z, boasting a robust 28-tonne lifting capacity, combines versatility and durability. Designed for ease of use and safety, it accelerates task completion, making it particularly suitable for customers with multiple drivers for the same vehicle. The Z range’s low loading angle is well-suited for handling fragile goods and in height-limited environments.

Focusing on environmental impact, the Multilift Ultima ZERO is an option for various Ultima hooklifts ranging from 20 to 30 tonnes. Retaining the features of regular models, up to 25% of the steel structure is replaced with recycled steel produced using an electric arc furnace and renewable electricity. This results in a 15% reduction in carbon emissions during the production phase. The included Performance Package in Ultima ZERO can further reduce emissions and noise by allowing the hooklift to operate with fewer truck engine revolutions per minute and faster operations, achieving up to a 25% reduction in the use phase.

Expressing their commitment to sustainability, Henri Janhonen, Vice President of Sales & Product Management, Demountables at Hiab, stated, “For many customers, sustainability is a key purchase criterion alongside productivity and safety. We’re proud to offer customers the option to purchase hooklifts made with recycled steel that has a significantly lower carbon footprint. As part of our dedication to sustainability, we’re always looking at creating solutions to reduce energy consumption, such as expanding capacity or the Performance Package.”
