KENC Engineering has been chosen by an international marine contractor to create a Flange Mounted Upending Tool (FMUT), according to an announcement on March 10th. The FMUT will be designed and built by KENC for deployment on a jack-up vessel, where it will be utilized for a variety of upcoming projects.

KENC Engineering has been designing and building custom equipment for the offshore energy industry for over two decades. They were approached to create a multi-purpose tool capable of upending, downending, and lifting monopiles with varying weights and dimensions. The FMUT is capable of handling diameters ranging from 7.5 to 8 meters and has a Safe Working Load (SWL) of 1600t.

The FMUT will include a sea fastening cradle and will be delivered in December 2023. It will be deployed for the first time at a UK offshore wind farm project
