Bilfinger secured a major multi-year contract for EDF’s Hinkley Point C nuclear project in Somerset, UK, covering engineering, procurement, piping prefabrication and installation work for critical reactor systems.
The contract, valued in the significant multi-million-euro range, is expected to run until 2030 and further strengthens Bilfinger’s position as a Tier-1 supplier to the nuclear sector.
Around 300 Bilfinger specialists are currently working on the project, with the on-site workforce expected to rise to as many as 800 people during peak activity. A further 100 employees will support the programme from the company’s West Carr prefabrication facility.
The scope includes detailed engineering, supply chain management, prefabrication of piping systems and installation works for key nuclear plant infrastructure.
“This multi-year contract places us among a select group of partners entrusted with delivering essential systems for new nuclear plants, which is a testament to our deep expertise and the trust placed in our capabilities,” said Caroline Sagne, President Business Unit Nuclear at Bilfinger.
Bilfinger is also expanding its UK prefabrication capacity, including at West Carr, to support growing demand from nuclear new-build projects.
The company brings more than 60 years of nuclear-sector experience and employs over 1,000 nuclear-certified specialists across activities including new build, modernisation, decommissioning and waste treatment.
Hinkley Point C remains one of the UK’s largest infrastructure and energy projects, with Bilfinger’s latest contract extending its involvement in the engineering and installation work required to bring the new nuclear plant into service.
