168 SPMT Axle Lines Move 4,000t Floating Dock Sections in Poland

Sarens completed the load-out of newly built floating dock sections weighing around 4,000 tonnes each at Szczecin Shipyard “Wulkan” in Poland, using 168 SPMT axle lines and six KAMAG K24ST power pack units.

Carried out for TREND Projekt, the operation formed a major stage in the construction of a new Polish floating dock expected to become one of the largest in the Baltic Sea.

The dock sections were transported from the fabrication area and loaded onto the BOA 35 barge using the engineered SPMT configuration, which provided the capacity and manoeuvrability required to control the movement of the large structures during the load-out.

Once positioned on the barge, the sections were launched and will be connected on the water during the next phase of the project.

The operation required close coordination between the transport, shipyard and marine teams to manage the transfer of the approximately 4,000-tonne sections from land onto the barge.

Using 168 axle lines together with six KAMAG K24ST PPUs allowed Sarens to distribute the load across the transport platform while maintaining precise control throughout the manoeuvre.

The successful load-out marks another construction milestone for the floating dock project and contributes to the continued development of Poland’s shipbuilding and maritime infrastructure.
