IDEA Logistics is managing the international transport of a 136.5-tonne Yankee dryer from Karlstad, Sweden, to Iskenderun, Türkiye, for an industrial investment in the country’s tissue and paper manufacturing sector.
Measuring nine metres in length and 5.6 metres in diameter, the oversized unit is being transported from the Swedish manufacturing centre to the Eastern Mediterranean, with arrival at Iskenderun Port expected by the end of August.
The project requires the coordination of heavy transport, port handling and maritime logistics to move the large cylindrical component from its point of origin in Karlstad to its final destination in Türkiye.
Yankee dryers are critical components of tissue production lines. The large steam-heated cylinders are used during the final stages of production to dry the paper web and contribute to characteristics such as softness, bulk and stretch.
Karlstad is an established manufacturing centre for this type of equipment and provides access to maritime transport through its location on Lake Vänern. Moving a component of this size from the region requires careful coordination between inland heavy transport and port operations before the sea voyage towards Türkiye.
Istanbul-based IDEA Logistics specialises in project cargo transportation, heavy haulage, vessel chartering and port operations, with experience handling large industrial equipment across Türkiye and international markets.
The Yankee dryer is destined for Iskenderun, an important industrial and logistics hub on Türkiye’s Mediterranean coast. Iskenderun Port handles a broad range of cargo, including breakbulk and project shipments, and provides onward connections to the country’s southern and southeastern industrial regions.
The delivery comes as investment continues in Türkiye’s tissue and paper manufacturing industry, where new and upgraded production capacity is driving demand for the international movement of large-scale industrial machinery.
Once the sea transport is completed, the 136.5-tonne unit is expected to arrive in Iskenderun by the end of August, completing another specialised project cargo movement managed by IDEA Logistics.
