deugro Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with dteq Transport Engineering Solutions, successfully delivered six critical deaerator vessels to the Wave C1 Project site in Mirfa, Abu Dhabi. Each vessel weighed 158 metric tons and measured 36.6 by 6.4 by 7.0 meters. Commissioned by Orascom Metito JV, deugro managed the collection of the oversized cargo from Ras Al Khaimah, arranging road transport to the RMC jetty, marine transport to MBK ICAD jetty, and final on-carriage to the project site.
Using gantry cranes, the vessels were loaded onto 12-axle trailers and transported along a 600-meter route at an average speed of five km/h, with deugro coordinating traffic and securing all necessary permits. At the jetty, pairs of vessels were rolled onto self-propelled deck barges and securely fastened according to method statements developed by dteq, with continuous supervision by both teams.

The cargo was then shipped 139 nautical miles, escorted by two tugboats, before a 132-kilometre road transport to the Mirfa site. Challenges included maneuvering at a congested port, coordinating RO/RO operations, and ensuring vessel stability. Detailed engineering planning covered turning simulations, ballast calculations, and securing forces in compliance with international standards.
Project leaders highlighted that meticulous planning, traffic coordination, and collaboration between deugro, dteq, and port authorities were key to ensuring safe, timely delivery. The operation underscores deugro’s expertise in managing oversized, critical cargo while maintaining operational efficiency, safety, and adherence to project schedules and budgets.
