Mammoet has further strengthened the world’s largest fleet of heavy-lift equipment with the purchase of two new Liebherr crawler cranes: an LR11350 and an LR12500-1.0. The latest acquisition also marks Mammoet’s second LR12500-1.0.
Liebherr introduced the LR12500-1.0 to the global market in 2022. It is among the manufacturer’s largest crawler cranes, surpassed only by the 3,000t-capacity LR13000, also part of Mammoet’s fleet.
The investment reflects growing demand in the renewables sector, particularly offshore wind, where increasing turbine heights require larger and more powerful cranes for installation and integration work.
The LR11350 offers a maximum load capacity of 1,350t and a hoist height of 220 metres. It will join ten other cranes in Mammoet’s fleet within the 1,000–1,350t class. Meanwhile, the LR12500-1.0 delivers 2,500t lifting capacity thanks to its uniquely wide main boom. It features a hoist height of 200 metres and a modular design that simplifies transport, enabling rapid mobilisation to projects worldwide.
Peter van Oostrom, Global Projects and Assets Director at Mammoet, said the company continues to invest in new machines from leading manufacturers to ensure its fleet remains modern and aligned with market requirements. He added that Liebherr is the logical supplier for cranes of this capacity and expects strong demand for the new cranes, particularly for offshore wind projects.
Christoph Kleiner, Managing Director at Liebherr, praised Mammoet as a long-standing partner whose operational feedback supports future crane development.
The cranes are scheduled for upcoming projects in the UK (LR12500-1.0) and the Netherlands (LR11350).
