Technip Energies secured a detailed engineering contract for the Arthit Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) facilities project in the Gulf of Thailand. The contract was awarded by Thoresen Jutal Offshore Engineering Heavy Industries Limited (Thailand) on behalf of PTTEP, which is leading the development of the project.
The Arthit CCS Project is intended to serve as a pilot initiative for carbon capture and storage in Thailand, supporting the country’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with government policy. The project is recognised under Thailand’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) Action Plan on Mitigation 2021–2030 and represents a key step towards the broader adoption of CCS technologies in the region.
The development will leverage existing infrastructure at the Arthit field, while incorporating the construction and installation of additional facilities where required. Once operational, the CCS system is expected to gradually ramp up to a capacity of approximately one million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.
Under the contract, Technip Energies will deliver detailed engineering for new CCS processing units and CO₂ injection facilities, including brownfield modifications to the existing Arthit Central Processing Platform. The award follows the company’s earlier involvement in the project, having successfully completed the pre-FEED and FEED phases between 2022 and 2023.
Commenting on the award, Mario Tommaselli, Senior Vice President Gas & Low Carbon Energies at Technip Energies, highlighted the company’s long-standing collaboration with PTTEP and its experience in carbon capture solutions, noting the project’s significance within Thailand’s decarbonisation strategy.
The contract was recorded in the third quarter of 2025 within Technip Energies’ Technology, Products & Services segment.
