Swiss marine power specialist WinGD has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions to enhance engine aftercare and technical services for ship operators across the Middle East.
The agreement, concluded during Nor-Shipping in June, will strengthen WinGD’s new lifecycle service platform, Global Service by WinGD, by expanding regional capabilities in engine maintenance, repair, overhaul, and retrofitting.
Combining Qatar Shipyard’s strategic location and state-of-the-art infrastructure with WinGD’s expertise in engine design, the partnership will deliver OEM-quality support to ensure vessels operate efficiently and remain compliant throughout their lifespan.
“Shipowners today are looking for trusted partners who can provide expert support at every stage of an engine’s life,” said Rudolf Holtbecker, Director of Global Service at WinGD. “This MoU establishes our footprint in the Middle East as part of our global commitment to tailored, high-quality services.”
Jos J.A.A. Goris, CEO of Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions, added: “This collaboration ensures our customers have access to the best engine expertise, remote support, and retrofit solutions, helping fleets maintain efficiency and compliance.”
Developed in collaboration with customers, Global Service by WinGD extends the company’s in-service support across the vessel lifecycle. It comes as more than 100 LNG carriers powered by WinGD engines are set to enter service on Qatar projects from 2026, further underscoring the importance of reliable regional aftercare.
“This is about trusted partnership,” Holtbecker concluded. “Our customers can now access WinGD expertise exactly where they need it.”
