Sarens is partnering with Technical Retail Services LTD to support the extensive refurbishment of Co-Op stores across Great Britain. This collaboration is aimed at enhancing the shopping experience for customers and driving increased revenue for the retailer.
As the seventh-largest supermarket chain in the UK, Co-Op operates over 2,400 stores nationwide, with a significant share of the quick commerce market. The store refurbishment program not only aims to improve the stores’ visual appeal but also introduces new services, such as cash withdrawal dispensers and dedicated plastic recycling areas, aligning with Co-Op’s commitment to giving back to its community and cooperative members.
Sarens’ role in the refurbishment involves the supply and operation of equipment to lift and move heavy materials used in each store’s renovation. The company will also handle the relocation of cranes and other devices based on site-specific requirements. Sarens will utilize a range of cranes with lifting capacities from 50 to 500 tons, as well as skates and jacks for moving these substantial loads. A dedicated technical team of 4 to 10 professionals will oversee each project.
In addition to the store refurbishments, Co-Op plans to open 120 new food stores by the end of 2024, further strengthening its footprint across the UK.
