MV Mila has joined the SAL fleet as the first vessel in the company’s new 14K-700 series, introducing a new generation of multipurpose heavy lift carriers designed for complex project cargo operations.
Designed for the energy, offshore, infrastructure, mining and industrial sectors, the 14K-700-Type combines a deadweight of approximately 14,300 tonnes with two 350-tonne heavy lift cranes capable of tandem lifts of up to 700 tonnes. The vessels also offer nearly 4,800 m² of cargo space and a container capacity of 953 TEU, providing flexibility for a wide range of cargoes.
MV Mila is the first of four sister vessels in the series, with MV Lina, MV Hannah and MV Pia scheduled to join the fleet. Together, they will strengthen SAL’s heavy lift capabilities with modern, fuel-efficient multipurpose vessels designed to improve cargo flexibility and operational efficiency.
The 14K-700 vessels feature two cargo holds, Ice Class 1A certification and a range of specialised features including a 600 kW bow thruster, making them suitable for demanding project cargo trades worldwide.
With the introduction of MV Mila, SAL continues to expand its fleet with vessels engineered to handle increasingly complex heavy lift and project cargo operations while offering efficient port turnaround and enhanced cargo intake across global trade routes.
