CMA CGM is deploying alternative multimodal transport solutions across the Middle East to maintain supply chain continuity amid ongoing restrictions affecting maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.

The initiative connects key Gulf countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iraq, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, through a combination of maritime, road and rail transport. The strategy aims to ensure safe and reliable cargo flows while prioritising the security of crews and operations.

Ports located outside the Strait of Hormuz, notably Khor Fakkan, Fujairah and Sohar, are being used as primary entry points. From these hubs, CMA CGM has established logistics corridors linking major UAE centres such as Khalifa, Jebel Ali and Sharjah, as well as wider Gulf destinations through integrated land and feeder services.

An additional route via the Red Sea port of Jeddah provides a strategic alternative, enabling cargo to move by road to Dammam and other Gulf countries without transiting through Hormuz. This corridor also supports connections to Mediterranean and Asian trade lanes.

Further flexibility is provided through Omani ports, which offer road-based links to the UAE and Upper Gulf markets, complemented by feeder services for regional distribution.

By combining maritime, rail and road transport, CMA CGM aims to deliver resilient and adaptable logistics solutions, helping customers navigate geopolitical challenges while maintaining the fluidity of trade across the region.
