Felbermayr Group has strengthened its heavy assembly capabilities following the acquisition of specialised equipment from Hoffmann Spezialtransporte.
The equipment transfer was completed in mid-March after company founder Olaf Hoffmann retired from operational business. The assets will now be integrated into Felbermayr’s heavy installation and engineered solutions divisions, as well as its subsidiaries Jozef Hermans and Wimmer Maschinentransporte.
According to Felbermayr Transport- und Hebetechnik managing director Peter Stöttinger, the additional equipment significantly expands the company’s technical capabilities for complex heavy assembly projects and allows the group to provide customers with more flexible and comprehensive project solutions.
The acquisition includes two heavy-duty lifting gantries with a capacity of 1,000 tonnes each, Sefiro self-propelled transporters and a large number of steel beams and structural components used for demanding heavy installation operations. The gantry systems will primarily be deployed within Felbermayr’s Engineered Solutions division and by Jozef Hermans.
Kees Kompier, head of Engineered Solutions at Felbermayr, noted that projects in the heavy lifting sector are often highly customised. The additional equipment will enable the company to tailor technical solutions more precisely to specific project requirements.
The Sefiro self-propelled transporters will be operated by Jozef Hermans in the Netherlands, where they will be used for complex industrial relocations and internal factory moves. Meanwhile, Wimmer Maschinentransporte will also benefit from the new equipment for machinery relocation and installation projects.
Felbermayr said the acquisition will significantly increase its operational capacity and enable faster responses to time-critical heavy transport and installation projects.
