Cometto has delivered a self propelled transporter to Aelterman to support in plant transport operations at its facility in Ghent.
The 4 axle Cometto Eco1000 was delivered in January 2026 and will be used for internal logistics during the production of heavy steel structures. The vehicle was configured following detailed technical discussions to meet the company’s specific operational requirements.

According to Aelterman, the transporter differs from the standard configuration. The vehicle features a wider frame and an extended loading platform while maintaining a payload capacity of 170 tonnes. Production manager Tom Stroo said the specifications were implemented professionally and that the customised solution meets the company’s operational needs.

The Eco1000 delivered to Aelterman has a width of 2.99 metres compared with the standard 2.43 metres. According to Cometto sales manager Joachim Kolb, the increased width improves stability by around 38 percent. In addition, the transporter uses the chassis of a six axle vehicle but is equipped with four axles to optimise payload requirements.

The vehicle arrived at the plant on schedule and immediately entered service, supporting the movement of heavy steel components during manufacturing operations.
Founded in 1952, Aelterman has specialised in bridge construction since 1989, delivering projects across the Benelux region as well as in Germany and France. Since 2025 the company has been part of Artes Group, further strengthening its position in the European infrastructure market.
