Mammoet has completed a module loadout at Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi, handling 24 PAU and PAR modules for a major gas development project in the UAE.

Fabricated by Quality International Co Ltd FZC, the modules were moved within Khalifa Port, Abu Dhabi Ports’ flagship deepwater multipurpose hub. The operation required close coordination with port authorities and infrastructure adjustments to accommodate oversized cargo, marking the largest outward shipment in the port’s history.

Mammoet transported the modules over a distance of around 2.5 kilometres from the fabrication yard at Khalifa Port South Quay to the adjacent quayside before shipping them in four consignments. Each stage of the operation was carefully engineered to ensure safe and efficient execution.

The company’s scope included weighing the modules using a combination of twelve 300 tonne and eighteen 150 tonne jack and load cells configured to suit varying dimensions and weights. For transport and loadout, Mammoet deployed 120 axle lines of self propelled modular transporters supported by four power pack units.

The largest unit handled during the campaign was a process gas cooling module weighing 2,464 tonnes and measuring 38 metres long, 23 metres wide and 32 metres high.

According to Mammoet, the project highlights its ability to manage complex heavy lift logistics from fabrication to shipment. Michel Bunnik, commercial director for projects AMEA at Mammoet, said the milestone reflects the UAE’s growing role as a global hub for energy and infrastructure projects and underlines the company’s long standing presence in the region.
