Konecranes continues to expand its presence in Spain with a new order from CSP Iberian Valencia Terminal for six hybrid Rubber-Tired Gantry (RTG) cranes. The order was booked in the fourth quarter of 2025, with delivery scheduled for December 2026.

The investment marks CSP Iberian Valencia Terminal’s second RTG order with Konecranes in 2025 and forms part of a long-term modernization program aimed at improving operational efficiency while reducing CO₂ emissions from container-handling activities. The new cranes will operate alongside the terminal’s existing fleet of Konecranes equipment at the Port of Valencia.

Equipped with Konecranes’ hybrid drive technology, the RTGs significantly reduce fuel consumption and emissions compared with conventional diesel-powered cranes. The units will also feature Konecranes Smart Features, including Active Load Control, Gantry Collision Prevention and Truck Lift Prevention, enhancing safety and productivity in busy terminal operations.

“Our relationship with Konecranes goes back many years, supported by the reliable performance of the RTG fleet already in operation at our terminal,” said Gustavo Ferrer Soriano, General Manager of CSP Iberian Valencia. “That track record gave us the confidence to invest further in hybrid RTGs, which are essential to meeting our eco-efficiency targets while maintaining high productivity and controlled maintenance costs.”

Konecranes hybrid RTGs operate primarily on onboard battery power, with a diesel generator used to recharge the batteries through intelligent power management and regenerative braking. More than 3,000 Konecranes RTGs have been delivered worldwide.

The order also supports Konecranes’ Ecolifting roadmap, a step-by-step approach toward zero tailpipe emissions and the decarbonization of port operations.
