Sarens is playing a key role in the Three Interchanges Construction Project in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, a strategic initiative aimed at easing congestion on Boulevard Germain Koffi Gadeau—one of the city’s busiest arteries, carrying up to 110,000 vehicles daily.

The €115 million project, co-financed by the Ivorian state and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), is being managed by AGEROUTE and executed by Razel-BEC. It will see the construction of three interchanges at the Police Academy, Riviera 3, and Riviera Palmeraie junctions, where traffic bottlenecks currently cause severe delays and air quality issues.

Sarens, a global leader in heavy lifting and engineered transport, has been contracted by Razel-BEC to handle the transport and installation of 50 metal bridge sections, weighing between 30 and 65 tons and measuring up to 30 metres. A GMK6300L crane with a 300-ton capacity has been mobilised for the works, which will run until April 2026. To minimise disruption, operations are scheduled overnight between 10 pm and 5 am.

According to Lionel Greban, Sarens’ West Africa President, “We are proud to bring our expertise to a project that will have such a positive impact on the region. Since 2014, our commitment to West Africa has been absolute, and we will continue to support local employment and infrastructure growth.”

The project also forms part of the future Abidjan–Lagos corridor, linking five West African capitals, and is expected to generate 600 jobs during construction.
