The British International Freight Association (BIFA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ethiopian Freight Forwarders and Shipping Agents Association (EFFSAA) to support the development and modernisation of Ethiopia’s logistics sector.
The agreement, signed during a ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Addis Ababa, marks a new chapter in international cooperation aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of Ethiopia’s freight forwarding industry.
The MoU outlines several key areas of collaboration, including strengthening EFFSAA’s institutional capacity, delivering technical and commercial advisory support, launching specialised training programmes, and encouraging the exchange of knowledge and resources between the UK and Ethiopian associations.
BIFA representatives recently visited Ethiopia to engage with local public and private stakeholders. The visit concluded with the signing of the MoU, witnessed by senior government officials, development partners, and logistics professionals.
EFFSAA President Dawit Woubishet described the partnership as a vital step toward building a globally competitive logistics sector in Ethiopia. “This agreement will help us improve skills, foster innovation, and create international linkages to support Ethiopia’s economic growth,” he said.
Steve Parker, BIFA Director General, added: “We are pleased to contribute our expertise to support the transformation of Ethiopia’s logistics landscape. This partnership will benefit local professionals and may open new business opportunities for members of both associations.”
