Raimondi Middle East has achieved a major milestone with the deployment of the region’s tallest climbed luffing jib crane. The Raimondi LR213, erected on an existing steel undercarriage, is currently operating at an impressive height of 322 meters, with a 50-meter jib and a 3.3-ton tip load.

Playing a crucial role in constructing a 75-story premium residential tower in Dubai, the crane was installed on a pre-existing base, requiring complex site planning and engineering innovation. The project presented unique challenges due to confined site conditions, height constraints, and strict base load limitations.

“Raimondi continues to demonstrate its strength in engineering by addressing highly demanding site conditions,” said Wael Hasan, General Manager of Raimondi Middle East. This deployment is a testament to our ability to deliver tailored solutions.”

Replacing a crane after the building had already reached 100 meters, Raimondi engineers had to reverse-engineer the setup. Using a 6×6 base, ballast blocks were progressively removed at each climbing stage to ensure load compliance, maintaining structural stability.

To meet the project’s lifting requirements at over 300 meters, Raimondi’s Applications Department redesigned the load curve. The crane was assembled with GR5S mast elements, including 100 short segments and two longer sections, supported by 12 bracings for added stability.

One of the most technically demanding elements involved collar positioning, which required multiple revisions and detailed calculations.

“Every stage, from collar recalibration to base redesign, reflected Raimondi’s dedication to precision and innovation,” added Hasan.

Dismantling will begin in the coming weeks, with the LR213-14t jacked down to 50 meters before full removal via mobile crane.
