DP World Sokhna has reported its highest-ever quarterly volume, handling 285,000 TEUs in Q1 2025—26% above target and the largest since operations began nearly two decades ago.

The record performance highlights the port’s growing role as a strategic logistics hub, driven largely by a surge in refrigerated cargo and citrus exports, as Egypt strengthens its global position in the fresh produce market.

Since assuming operations in 2008, DP World has invested over $1.3 billion in modernizing Sokhna Port, equipping it to handle the world’s largest cargo vessels and providing advanced digital infrastructure for seamless cargo management.

“This level of growth clearly demonstrates Ain Sokhna Port’s rising importance as a logistics hub, not only for Egypt, but for the wider region,” said Avnash Iyer, COO & Acting CEO, DP World Egypt. “Our investments, including the upcoming Sokhna Logistics Park, are geared toward supporting Egypt’s dynamic market and global trade ambitions.”

With advanced cold chain capabilities, Sokhna Port is becoming a key gateway for Egypt’s agricultural exports. The port’s ability to efficiently handle temperature-sensitive goods reinforces its role in supporting the country’s perishable trade.

As DP World continues to expand its footprint in Egypt, Sokhna Port is poised to remain at the core of a fully integrated supply chain, connecting local businesses to global markets with greater speed and efficiency.
