Africa Global Logistics (AGL), through its joint venture Patimban Global Gateway Terminal, has signed a $73.6 million financing agreement with Sarana Multi Infrastruktur Persero. The funds will support the development of key superstructures and equipment at the Patimban Container Terminal in Central Java, including the installation of ship-to-shore (STS) cranes and electric rubber-tyred gantry (eRTG) cranes.
Located just three hours from Jakarta, the terminal is poised to become a major logistics hub. Operated by a joint venture between AGL, Toyota Tsusho Corporation, and Samudera Pelabuhan Indonesia, the facility will be developed and managed over the next 36 years. The investment aims to boost container capacity, reduce congestion, and improve supply chain efficiency across the region.
“This signing marks a new phase in our expansion in Southeast Asia,” said Olivier De Noray, Managing Director of AGL Ports and Terminals. “It reflects our commitment to building modern, sustainable infrastructure in strategic locations.”
The project also emphasizes job creation, economic stimulation, and adherence to strict environmental standards, aligning with broader sustainability goals.
Pierre Avesque, CEO of Patimban Global Gateway Terminal, added, “This financing demonstrates strong support for an ambitious project that will open a vital gateway to Java’s central region. Container handling operations are set to begin by the end of 2026.”
