Peel Ports Group, the UK’s second-largest port operator, has appointed 18 contractors to its new construction framework, a major programme of works valued at up to £750 million. The framework, set to run for up to eight years, covers a wide range of construction projects across Peel Ports’ UK and Ireland sites.
The multi-lot framework is divided into three categories: Lot 1 for General Construction, Lot 2 for Marine Construction, and Lot 3 as a national lot for Major Projects. The appointed contractors, including A E Yates, C Spencer, Charles Brand, Erith Contractors, Glencar, GPS Marine & Civil Services, J Murphy & Sons, Jackson Framework, John Graham Construction, JT Mackley & Co, Lagan Aviation & Infrastructure, Mackenzie Construction, McLaughlin & Harvey, Octavius, RJ McLeod, Southbay Civil Engineering, Story Contracting, and Taziker Industrial, will support projects at the Port of Liverpool, Heysham Port, Manchester Ship Canal, London Medway, Clydeport sites, Great Yarmouth, and Dublin Port.
Lewis McIntyre, Managing Director of Port Services at Peel Ports Group, expressed confidence in the selected contractors, highlighting the importance of a rigorous procurement process. He stated, “We’re pleased to announce the 18 contractors who have been selected to carry out this important work across our ports in the UK and Ireland. This process has allowed us to choose the very best regional and national partners, who will support the ongoing development of our network of logistics hubs.”
The General Construction scope includes drainage, road and carpark construction, earthworks, foundations, warehouse development, paving, rail construction, bridge works, and demolition. The Marine Construction scope focuses on specialist marine works, including piling, asset renewal, quay walls, and lock and gate maintenance.
The framework aligns with Peel Ports Group’s commitment to sustainability, requiring contractors to meet high standards for health, safety, environmental practices, and community engagement. This initiative supports the group’s goal of becoming a net-zero port operator by 2040.
