Drydocks World Wins FPSO BAOBAB IVOIRIEN Refurbishment Contract

Drydocks World has secured a contract from MODEC Management Services Pte. Ltd. for the refurbishment and life extension of the FPSO BAOBAB IVOIRIEN, reinforcing its leadership in offshore asset upgrades.

The eight-month project, set to begin in May 2025, includes major structural enhancements such as 1,000 tonnes of steel renewal, 250,000 square meters of tank coating, and 11,500 meters of new piping. Crew living quarters will also be upgraded, and advanced technologies integrated to improve efficiency and reliability. Upon completion, the vessel’s lifespan will be extended by 15 years, supporting sustained energy production for West Africa.

With a strong track record of over 50 similar projects, including 30+ FPSO upgrades, Drydocks World continues to demonstrate its expertise in offshore engineering. CEO Capt. Rado Antolovic emphasized the company’s capability in executing large-scale refurbishments, ensuring operational efficiency and safety. MODEC’s President, Gary Kennedy, highlighted Drydocks World’s experience and commitment to quality as key factors in the selection process.

The FPSO, currently stationed at the Baobab oil field off Côte d’Ivoire, will be relocated to Drydocks World’s Dubai facility for the upgrade. Originally converted from an Ultra Large Crude Carrier in 2003, the vessel has a processing capacity of 70,000 barrels of oil per day and 75 million cubic feet of gas.
