Marcegaglia has taken delivery of the LHM 600, marking the 2,000th mobile harbour crane produced by Liebherr. The crane, the sixth Liebherr unit for Marcegaglia, will play a crucial role in handling general cargo, containers, and bulk materials at the Port of Ravenna, Italy.
Combining tradition with innovation, the LHM 600 is designed for ships up to New-Panamax size, making it a key asset for Marcegaglia’s logistics operations. Primarily used for handling steel products like coils, sheets, and strips, its adaptability allows seamless transitions between cargo types. The crane’s hydrostatic drive ensures precision and efficiency, optimizing port operations. Additionally, the slewing platform features a unique design celebrating the maritime heritage of both Rostock and Ravenna.

The slewing platform of the 2,000th LHM carries a two-sided motif reflecting the partnership between Liebherr and Marcegaglia. One side showcases Ravenna’s Basilica di Sant’Apollinare Nuovo and Italian dock workers, while the other highlights Rostock’s maritime tradition, including a lighthouse. These artistic elements symbolize the fusion of German engineering precision and Italian craftsmanship.

A handover ceremony is planned for the summer in Ravenna, underscoring the collaboration between these family-led companies. Andreas Ritschel, General Manager Sales of Mobile Harbour Cranes at Liebherr-Rostock GmbH, stated: “This milestone LHM 600 exemplifies our commitment to pioneering solutions for our customers.”
