The Port Service team in Esbjerg recently completed the transport of a massive 300-tonne blade yoke, overcoming significant logistical challenges due to its size and weight. Measuring 24 metres long, 10 metres wide, and 17 metres high, the transport required navigating tight spaces with clearances of less than 5 cm in some areas.
Using Scheuerle self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) from its in-house fleet, the team managed the entire operation internally, from transport programming and configuration to execution. This ensured a fast, precise, and efficient process.

From planning to execution, the operation was completed in just one week. The team conducted a thorough route survey, addressed potential infrastructure challenges, and coordinated traffic management, including temporary road closures. Once cleared, the transport covered 6 kilometres within the Port of Esbjerg in just 4 hours.
The following day, the blade yoke was successfully loaded onto a jack-up installation vessel, ensuring a seamless full-cycle service from quayside transport to offshore deployment.

“This operation showcased the all-round expertise of our Port Service team. Their precise planning and execution ensured everything went smoothly. It’s a great example of how our in-house capabilities set us apart in specialised transport,” said Mathias Juhl, Terminal Manager at Blue Water Esbjerg.
