On February 1, Maersk A/S and Hapag-Lloyd AG launch Gemini Cooperation, a strategic operational partnership aimed at creating a flexible, interconnected ocean network with schedule reliability exceeding 90% once fully implemented.
The collaboration integrates around 340 vessels into a shared ocean network, with initial sailings beginning immediately. More vessels will gradually transition, with full implementation expected by June.
“We have carefully planned this transition to ensure a smooth experience for our customers. With its innovative design, we believe Gemini Cooperation will offer greater reliability, flexibility, and competitive services,” said Johan Sigsgaard, Chief Product Officer of Ocean at Maersk.
The transition period will run through late May as vessels shift from existing agreements into the new Gemini schedules. Once fully operational, the network will cover key East/West trade routes with 29 mainliner services and 28 agile intraregional shuttle services.
This collaboration marks a major step in enhancing service efficiency, optimizing global trade routes, and improving reliability for customers worldwide.
