Polish heavy-lift specialist MS Industry recently used an Enerpac SBL1100 hydraulic gantry to install two large transformers at the Baltic Power substation, part of the Baltic Power Offshore Wind project. Located 23 km off Poland’s coast, the Baltic Power wind farm will produce up to 1.2 GW of power when completed in 2026, with energy sent to shore via export cables.
Each transformer, weighing 354 tons and measuring 13.5 meters long, was transported to the site on Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMTs). MS Industry then deployed the Enerpac SBL1100 gantry to unload and position the transformers accurately onto pre-laid tracks, a method chosen due to space restrictions and challenging ground conditions.
The SBL1100, Enerpac’s highest-capacity hydraulic gantry, offered precise control through its Intelli-Lift wireless system. This feature allowed synchronized, accurate vertical and horizontal movement to gently place each transformer in its exact position on the installation tracks. Robert Samczyk, CEO of MS Industry, highlighted the gantry’s adaptability and precision, essential for the unique conditions at the site.
