RTITB, a trusted name in workplace transport training accreditation, has introduced a new set of Instructors’ Guides specifically designed for training operators of earth moving machinery. Covering six types of machines, including Wheeled Loading Shovels, 180° excavators (up to and over 5 tonnes), 360° excavators (wheeled or tracked, up to and over 10 tonnes), and Skid Steer Loaders (commonly known as ‘Bobcats’), this initiative extends RTITB’s high training standards to a broader range of industries, from agriculture and waste management to oil and gas.
Laura Nelson, Managing Director of RTITB, highlighted the flexibility the guides offer for companies and training providers. “Employers can now streamline their training needs by using a single RTITB Accredited training provider for all types of operator courses, making it quicker and simpler to arrange comprehensive training,” said Nelson. For organizations with in-house training capabilities, the new guides also allow certified instructors to conduct training without outsourcing, reducing costs.
Available in USB format, the guides are portable and eco-friendly, minimizing paper usage. Each guide includes structured course programs, practical and theory test papers, and pre-use inspection marking sheets, designed to facilitate effective and efficient training. Additionally, RTITB has developed a complementary Earth Moving Machinery training PowerPoint to support operator training across various machinery types. Training providers also benefit from RTITB’s TrainingFriend App, which aids in course administration and assessment while further reducing paperwork.
Upon course completion, operators will receive a digital eCard, enhancing both environmental sustainability and cost-effectiveness, with prices starting at £2.95 per eCard. This approach replaces traditional plastic IDs and aligns with RTITB’s commitment to sustainability.
RTITB’s new training materials incorporate interactive elements such as quizzes, graphics, and discussion sessions to support diverse learning styles. Training providers have the flexibility to deliver these courses without pre-registration, allowing for last-minute scheduling without incurring financial penalties.
