Salzgitter AG is set to produce steel using a nearly climate-neutral process through its SALCOS (Salzgitter Low CO2 Steelmaking) program, which will utilize direct reduction plants and green hydrogen. To support this initiative, the company has acquired several industrial lift transporters (IHT) from TII Kamag to efficiently transport steel scrap required for production.
The Kamag IHTs, each capable of handling around 350 tonnes, are designed for round-the-clock operations, ensuring a reliable logistics chain. These vehicles boast advanced safety features, including laser and radar obstacle detection systems, which can autonomously halt the transporter if an obstacle is detected. This innovative technology enhances safety while also reducing wear on the vehicle and load carriers.
Additionally, the Kamag IHTs feature a Pathfinder Palette System that assists drivers in aligning and positioning the transporters under scrap baskets, further increasing operational efficiency and vehicle longevity. With a high degree of serviceability, the new IHT generation facilitates easy maintenance, minimizing downtime and operating costs.
