MV UHL FRESH, the newest addition to United Heavy Lift’s fleet, has commenced its maiden voyage from Tianjin, China, to Europe with project cargo. Delivered on January 24th, 2024, the vessel entered service less than a year after keel laying at Hudong Shipyard in Shanghai and christening in late 2023.

The Hamburg-based shipping company’s 18th vessel is part of the F900 Eco-Lifter fleet. Captain Sven Ellerbrock and First Officer Pit Awe led the final sea trials last month. MV UHL FRESH is scheduled to reach the port of discharge in Vaasa, Finland, by the end of March, under the technical management of Zeaborn Ship Management.

Emphasizing sustainable practices, the MPP heavy lift vessel boasts an IMO Tier III-certified main engine, with up to 95% of NOX emissions washed out and diesel particles burnt off. With low bunker consumption of 7 metric tons/9 knots, 10 metric tons/12 knots, and 21 metric tons/15 knots, the Eco-Lifter stands out for its fuel efficiency. As the fleet’s youngest member, MV UHL FRESH can run on biodiesel, ensuring carbon-neutral operation.

UHL Managing Director Andreas Rolner states, “United Heavy Lift is advancing environmental awareness in the shipping industry. With an average fleet age of approximately 3 years, we offer ESG-compliant solutions, benefiting our customers within emissions trading systems.”

United Heavy Lift, operating globally, aligns its fleet expansion with the growing market for eco-friendly breakbulk and heavy lift sea transportation. Another vessel, MV UHL FABLE, is expected from Hudong Shipyard later in 2024, marking the company’s 19th addition.
