Mammoet announces the successful completion of the Sheybarah Island resort project in collaboration with Red Sea Global. As a key component of The Red Sea destination’s regenerative tourism initiative, the installation of the last villa on Sheybarah Island marks a significant milestone in Mammoet’s transformative journey since the contract signing in May 2022.

Mammoet’s role included transporting and installing 73 prefabricated villa orbs from Sharjah, UAE, to Sheybarah Island in the Saudi Red Sea. The hyper-luxury resort, featuring a distinctive design by Killa Design, now stands as a testament to Mammoet’s commitment to precision and excellence in engineered heavy lifting.

Demonstrating expertise from factory to foundation, Mammoet seamlessly integrated architectural marvels into Sheybarah Island’s pristine landscape, rich in mangroves, white sand dunes, and vibrant coral reefs. The use of tailor-made solutions, such as a 650t capacity Demag CC3800 crawler crane on the modified barge ALE 250, emphasized Mammoet’s dedication to minimizing environmental impact.

The installation process, employing precision engineering, hyper-accurate GPS systems, and locally controlled jacking mechanisms, ensured flawless placement of overwater villas onto their foundations. Mammoet’s commitment to environmental preservation was evident through the shallow draft of the barge and a retrofitted 300t spud jacking system, minimizing disruption to the delicate marine environment.

This achievement in the Sheybarah Island Resort contributes to The Red Sea project, a vital component of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. Encompassing 28,000 square kilometers, The Red Sea aims to boost the country’s GDP, support economic diversification, and generate employment opportunities. Mammoet’s Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa, Jack van den Brink, expressed pride in the company’s role, stating, “We remain committed to delivering excellence in every project, contributing to the creation of the world’s most spectacular and sustainable hotels.”
