Gerd Bartels has assumed the role of head of Continental’s Specialty Tires business area starting November 1, 2023. In this capacity, he oversees tire solutions and services for industrial applications, two-wheelers, and racing tires. Reporting directly to Christian Kötz, a Continental Executive Board member and Head of Tires, Bartels brings almost 30 years of international experience within the company to his new position. He succeeds Wolfgang Thomale, who now leads the Surface Solutions business area in Continental’s industrial group sector.
Continental’s Specialty Tires business area encompasses a broad range of activities, including the development, production, and sale of tires for agriculture, earth-moving and port vehicles, as well as material handling, bicycles, motorcycles, and racing. This move aligns with the company’s Vision 2030 strategy, emphasizing the strategic growth potential of the Specialty Tires sector.
