Global Wind Projects, an UK provider of crane and installation services for wind turbines, has collaborated with its sister company, Global Crane Services, to reinforce their shared crane fleet by adding a Liebherr LG 1750. This 750-tonne lattice boom mobile crane, known for combining crawler crane performance with all-terrain mobility, is now part of an impressive fleet alongside an LG 1750 and an LR 1750 crawler crane, along with over 60 mobile cranes featuring lifting capacities ranging from 25 to 750 tonnes. The new addition is expected to cater to the surging demand from the wind industry across the UK and Ireland.

While Global Wind Projects will primarily deploy the new LG 1750 for onshore wind power projects, Global Crane Services will utilize it for heavy-duty tasks in ports, infrastructure projects, and the petrochemical sector throughout the UK and Ireland. Both entities are subsidiaries of Global Port Services, an integral part of the Inverness and Aberdeen-based Global Energy Group, specializing in services for the energy sector.

Ryan Burke, General Manager at Global Wind Projects, underscores the significance of this crane fleet expansion: “The acquisition of the new Liebherr LG 1750 effectively doubles our capacity to meet the specific demands of wind projects. This investment holds considerable importance for our company. The LG 1750 was promptly deployed to Ireland, where it efficiently installed five onshore wind turbines at ABO Wind Ireland’s Sheskin wind farm in County Mayo. Subsequently, it proceeded to County Offaly to install 29 onshore turbines at the Yellow River wind farm. With two LG 1750s at our disposal, we are well-equipped to meet the surging demand for our onshore wind crane and erection services, supporting the continued growth of Global Wind Projects.”

Lyle Sibbald, Liebherr sales manager, expresses their satisfaction in supplying the LG 1750 for Global Wind Projects’ expansion, emphasizing its versatility and efficiency as a heavy lift crane. The LG 1750 combines the performance of a 750-tonne crawler crane with the mobility of a high-speed mobile crane, making it ideal for swift erection work in wind power projects, industrial construction, or infrastructure endeavors.
