Bertling Logistics and Rafeek & Moore are excited to announce the establishment of their joint venture (JV) entity, Rafeek & Moore Bertling Logistics (Guyana) Inc. Commencing operations on October 1, 2023, the company will be headquartered at Rafeek & Moore’s established office in the Port of Georgetown.

Nestled on South America’s northern coast, Guyana has quietly emerged as a regional economic force. Boasting abundant natural resources, a strategic location, and recent oil discoveries, the country is on the cusp of significant economic expansion. Guyana’s pivotal position at the crossroads of South America and the Caribbean affords it a unique advantage, serving as a vital trade and commerce hub for both regions.

The primary mission of Rafeek & Moore Bertling Logistics (Guyana) Inc. is to collaboratively explore the myriad business opportunities within Guyana’s oil and gas, mining, and construction sectors. The venture aims to integrate the value-added services and expertise of both companies into a specialized logistics service offering.

Leading the JV initiative will be Colin Moore of Rafeek & Moore and Steve Ross-Munro of Bertling Logistics. Colin possesses unparalleled familiarity with the Guyanese market, having dedicated over three decades to working in the country. His extensive local connections, knowledge of regional suppliers, and access to indigenous resources, vehicles, and equipment make him a valuable asset for transporting goods to even the remotest corners of the nation.

Steve brings over 30 years of global logistics experience, having worked and lived in the UK, Middle East, Asia, and the USA. Earlier this year, he assumed the role of Director of Business Development at Bertling Logistics in Houston. His longstanding professional relationship with Colin Moore, coupled with his frequent presence in Guyana for meetings with existing and potential customers, positions him as an indispensable contributor to the JV’s success.

Both JV partners are seasoned industry experts, commanding recognition for their specialized logistics services. Bertling Logistics specializes in global project logistics and transport engineering solutions, while Rafeek & Moore excels primarily in general freight forwarding, trucking, and customs brokerage services in Guyana. Bertling will leverage its global network of offices and suppliers, cutting-edge IT infrastructure, and extensive project experience to enhance its presence in the Americas.

Colin Moore, Director of Rafeek & Moore, expresses pride in the partnership with Bertling, stating, “We are delighted to have Bertling as a steadfast and trusted partner, adding value to expand our local service offering in Guyana and diversify our portfolio.”

Colin MacIsaac, CEO of Bertling Logistics, remarks on their enthusiasm for emerging opportunities in Guyana, underscoring Rafeek & Moore’s reputable local services and extensive network. He envisions their joint venture assuming a prominent role in Guyana, adeptly addressing logistics demands arising from the ongoing energy transition.
