Terberg Special Vehicles has produced its 50,000th vehicle, more than five decades after building its first terminal tractor in 1973.
Vehicle number 50,000 is one of six electric 4×4 RoRo tractors destined for Gothenburg RoRo Terminal in Sweden. It was officially unveiled and handed over at Terberg’s factory in Benschop, the Netherlands, in the presence of distributor N.C. Nielsen.
The milestone was marked across Terberg’s international manufacturing network. Vehicle number 50,001 rolled off the production line in the United States, while number 50,002 was ceremonially handed over to Northport in Malaysia.
Terberg entered the terminal tractor market in 1973 after Govert Terberg and Head of Development Joop Boumans identified opportunities created by the growth of containerised transport.
Since then, the company has expanded into a global manufacturer with production facilities in the Netherlands, Malaysia and the United States, supported by aftersales hubs in Miami, Houten, Dubai and Kuala Lumpur.
Its international sales and service network now includes more than 60 distributors worldwide, nine of which are owned by Terberg.
The 50,000th vehicle also reflects the manufacturer’s increasing focus on electrification. The electric 4×4 RoRo tractor forms part of a six-unit order for Gothenburg RoRo Terminal and represents the latest generation of specialist vehicles developed for port and terminal operations.
Terberg says development is already under way on future vehicle generations as the company prepares for its next 50,000 units.
