Sarens has strengthened its heavy transport operations in Australia, expanding its integrated overland transport and SPMT offering to meet growing demand from the country’s industrial, mining and infrastructure sectors.
Australia currently has more than 430 major projects in development, with committed investment exceeding AUD 62 billion, particularly across Western Australia and Queensland.
Sarens said the scale of these projects is increasing demand for the movement of transformers, industrial modules and other oversized components weighing hundreds or even thousands of tonnes.
The company’s Australian service model covers early-stage engineering, route and feasibility studies, permitting, escort coordination, infrastructure modifications and final heavy transport operations through to precise placement on site.
From its bases in Perth and Brisbane, Sarens operates more than 200 SPMT axle lines, which can be hydraulically and electronically combined for ultra-heavy transport operations. The fleet is complemented by heavy-duty prime movers, extendable trailers and more than 160 cranes across Australia.
“Moving heavy equipment and modular components across a territory as vast as Australia requires an exceptional level of planning, engineering and operational muscle,” said Willem Jobse, Regional Director Sarens Oceania.
He added that clients increasingly require a single partner capable of managing the complete logistics chain, from ground bearing pressure calculations and permits through to final installation.
Sarens’ recent Australian references include the installation of a 3,000-tonne bridge section for Adelaide’s Darlington Freeway using 132 SPMT axle lines.
The company said its expanded capability is intended to support the growing number of complex mining, energy, infrastructure and industrial projects being developed across the country.
