Sany has unveiled a 250,000 tonne-metre ring crane designed for next-generation nuclear power and large-scale energy infrastructure projects.
Developed over seven years, the fully electric crane features a 137-metre main boom and 66-metre jib. According to Sany, it delivers around 50% greater lifting capacity at large working radii than comparable solutions.
A key focus is nuclear construction, where the crane is designed to perform heavy module lifts across multiple reactor islands from a single installation position, reducing crane relocation and simplifying site logistics.
Sany says the system could shorten construction schedules by up to 15%, while reducing site-related costs by approximately 20% and logistics costs by 30%. Its electric drive operates directly from the industrial power grid, eliminating on-site emissions and reducing noise compared with diesel-powered equipment.
The crane also incorporates intelligent anti-collision technology, 360-degree monitoring, remote diagnostics, rope condition detection and work-behaviour identification.
The development comes as increasingly large and modular nuclear projects create demand for higher-capacity lifting solutions capable of handling major components at extended working radii.
