Principle Power will provide operations and maintenance support for the 30 MW Éoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion (EFGL) floating wind project in the French Mediterranean, operated by Ocean Winds in partnership with la Banque des Territoires.

The contract covers the project’s three WindFloat foundations supporting three Vestas V164 10 MW turbines, currently the most powerful turbines operating on floating foundations. Principle Power will deliver integrated operations and maintenance services, including inspection, maintenance and repair, remote monitoring, data analytics and engineering support.

The company will also deploy its Asset Hub digital platform, enabling real time remote monitoring and automated operational insights to support asset performance and decision making.

Operations will be managed from the project’s base at Port La Nouvelle in southern France, where Principle Power has expanded its local team. The company now has almost 30% of its global workforce based in France.

Jeremy de Barbarin, Project Director of EFGL at Ocean Winds, said, “This contract constitutes a strategic asset for EFGL and strengthens the long-standing relationship between Ocean Winds and Principle Power. Principle Power will deploy their proven expertise in floating foundation technologies to assist the Ocean Winds team in maximizing system availability, reliability, and efficiency.

The award builds on Principle Power’s experience across the WindFloat 1, WindFloat Atlantic and Kincardine Offshore Wind Farm projects. With EFGL, the company now supports 105 MW of installed floating wind capacity using WindFloat foundations.

Clara de Moura Santos, Vice President of Operation & Maintenance at Principle Power, said, “This award builds on Principle Power’s operating track record in floating wind and reinforces our role as a provider of integrated O&M support and services. The project’s operational learnings will help inform the fourth generation, fully industrialized WindFloat technologies.”
