Tecmaco, one of Argentina’s leading providers of heavy lifting, heavy transportation and specialised equipment services, has strengthened its operational capabilities with the acquisition of a 3,000-tonne telescopic crane, one of the largest and most capable machines of its type operating in Latin America.
The investment marks a significant milestone for the company and reflects growing demand across the region’s wind energy, infrastructure, industrial and construction sectors. With only a handful of cranes in this capacity class currently operating in South America, the acquisition places Tecmaco among a select group of companies able to undertake some of the continent’s most demanding lifting projects.

While the crane has been acquired in response to the rapid expansion of the wind energy sector and the installation of larger next-generation turbines, Tecmaco selected a configuration that extends its application far beyond renewable energy projects. Equipped with a 95-metre luffing jib, the crane is capable of supporting industrial construction, petrochemical developments, plant maintenance and major structural installations.
In wind turbine installation configuration, the crane can operate with a 68-metre main boom and up to 120 metres of wind jib, achieving hook heights of approximately 200 metres while maintaining lifting capacities of around 250 tonnes.

The acquisition forms part of Tecmaco’s long-term strategy of investing in specialised, high-capacity equipment. The company already operates an extensive fleet of more than 150 cranes, including rough terrain, all terrain, truck-mounted and crawler cranes. Its total lifting capacity now exceeds 66,000 metric tonnes, making it one of the largest lifting fleets in Latin America.
Beyond lifting operations, Tecmaco has developed a substantial fleet of specialised rental equipment, heavy transport solutions and material handling machinery, serving customers in the energy, mining, oil and gas, logistics and infrastructure sectors.
The arrival of the new 3,000-tonne crane further strengthens Tecmaco’s ability to support increasingly complex projects across Argentina and the wider Latin American market, while reinforcing its position as a leading provider of integrated heavy lift and transport solutions.
